Joseph Mascelli's book THE FIVE C'S OF CINEMATOGRAPHY is one of the most widely respected books on cinematography in the industry. It essentially covers Camera Angles, Continuity, Cutting, Close-ups and Composition. Armed with this book, and the obligitory American Cinematographer Film Manual you've got a wealth of resource that will serve you well in a wide variety of situations. Of course, being a cinematographer by trade, my own book deals primarily with transposing the methodogy that is laid out in these classic reference sources into a more appropriate, down-sized digital metephore.
I've recieved quite a bit of e-mail asking why, since I'm primarily a DP by trade, is this cinematography section so short in comparison to the other subjects?
